Katee’s Done with Chemotherapy!!!
dclock February 7th, 2008
Finally, Katee has completed her last chemo treatment today. She was supposed to be done a couple of days ago, but there was a malfunction in the chemo pump that she wears at night. It came loose and blood spilled out of the device and her chemo ports. They could not be sure that she had received the correct dose, so she had to take another dose, and wear the device another night. However, today was the last treatment. Katee will go in two weeks from now to make sure her blood work is returning to normal. She will have a PET scan in about 30 days to ensure that the cancer is fully dead. At this time all indications are that she is cancer free and doing great! What a huge relief. I am so proud of her and her strength to get through all these treatments. She is so strong and did a great job in taking a tough chemotherapy dosages.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in the fund raiser in conjunction with the Senior Center of Castle Rock. Once again, the thoughtfulness and generosity of the Castle Rock community was more that we could ever expect. We received enough money from the fund raiser to compensate for my moving to disability and the expenses of fighting cancer. Thank you so much. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such good friends.
My chemo is going well. I am sick quite a bit, but it is tolerable. Today my hair started falling out again. It is not as traumatic as last time, I guess you just get used to it. I have 5 more weeks of treatment before we find out if it is working this time. The wait is difficult, but I feel that a great weight has been lifted with the completion of Katee’s chemo. Her successful treatment has given me hope that I will also get a positive result from my treatment.
Again, I want to thank all of you that keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We deeply appreciate all that each one of you have done for our family. To those that have given to us financially, please know that we are so grateful and use the money only toward the cost of fighting cancer. We wish we could repay you all, but all we can do is offer our prayers and blessings upon you all. Thank You!
Great news about Katee. that is a big answer to prayer.
You both will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Darrin and Family. I continue to follow along through your website. Thanks to all those who contribute to making the information available. It is so great to hear of Katee’s progress. We will continue to pray for you and your family. God is good and with God, all things are possible. Stay strong.
Darrin, over the last few months, I have started many messages to you, but never seem to get them finished. Hard to find the right words. Hard to explain how it feels to reconnect with you, this way. How I wish the circumstances were different. It amazes me how time flies. I think it has been almost 25 years……Senior year at SFT? It’s interesting how our life leads us on our various pursuits and the different journeys we take. It’s obvious that you have a great family, friends, and supporting community. What a blessing! After 25 years of no direct contact and only occasional updates through/from family members, I can’t say I know you very well anymore, but it’s very obvious from what I’ve read about you, your family, and comments from friends, that you are a great husband, father, son, friend, employee…… I’m not surprised. On top of all that your faith, strength, and attitude are a very powerful witness. You have so much to be proud of.
I pray that you will continue to lean on Christ (Proverbs 3:5-6 and Philippians 4:6-7).
Your friend,
Tom
Great job, Katee! Both of you are often in my thoughts, and I feel very lucky to know you.
