About Darrin & Katee

admin August 4th, 2007

Darrin Clock at his January 2007 Fundraiser Spaghetti DinnerIMG_0079Darrin and Katee Clock have cancer. The exact form of cancer Darrin has is Leiomyosarcoma. Leiomyosarcoma is a cancer of smooth muscle cells and it is ravaging his body.  The doctors do not expect him to live beyond December 2007.  However, the doctors also had said Darrin would be dead by May 2007, and yet, he’s still here and working full-time.

During the 16th month of Darrin’s fight, his daughter Katee (age 20) was diagnosed with Colon cancer.   She is (was) a student at the University of Northern Colorado.  Katee’s cancer at the time of diagnosis was already at stage 3.  She underwent immediate surgery to remove over a foot of her colon and will soon start chemotherapy.

Darrin has already fought to live beyond the date given to him by his doctors at the Mayo Clinic, but recently things are not looking good.  He had decided to stop treatment at the Mayo Clinic, due to the fact that the current cancer drugs are not working and the options would not extend his life much beyond that of no treatment.  However, since Darrin found that his daughter had cancer, he elected to find a new Oncologist and try “anything” to live long enough to see his daughter fully recovered.

His employees have banded together to form this website for him, to ask for donations for Darrin, Katee and their family.  The Clock family needs all the help they can get to pay their never-ending medical bills.

I read the story on the online version of the paper. Your story is both heartbreaking and inspirational.

I have a company that is going to be doing a children/maternity consignment event at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Oct 13-14th. Back 2 The Rack will donate 10% of anything a buyer (who gives the family name) purchases OR if anyone who wishes will consign-and gives the family name, we will donate 10% of their sales to the family here.

I don’t know if it interests you or not or if it is even possible but know the option exists with our company. I could create a flier that you could have people print and bring to the sale indicating the families name and you would have the money within 2 weeks of the end of the sale.

Please contace me if you’d like @ rosie@back2therack.com.

The family will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

    Hey guys-
I don’t know if you remember me. I am Bruce and Ronda Nelson’s oldest daughter. I babysat Katee and Ami a few times a LONG time ago. I also babysat for Jarred and Shanna. We used to go to COTR. Just wanted to let you know you guys have been in our thoughts and prayers. I know what it’s like to go thru chemo (I had bone cancer when I was 10) and understand how frustrating it can be. Keep your chins up and live every day to it’s fullest! God is in control and, even when it doesn’t make sense, He always takes care of us. If Katee would like to talk to someone who understands, please give her my number. I would love to talk with her. It helped me to know there were other people around who understood. We love you guys!

You have all been so heavy on my heart this past week. I lift you in prayer but was even more fervent in doing so this past week. I asked Dillon to talk to Ami and ask how you were all doing but I think that must be to hard for him because he has not followed through. I know he too cares deeply about your family and you have his prayers as well as my extended families. After remembering this website I understood why God had place you in my thoughts and therefore my prayers. I am saddened that you have other things to battle, as if the cancers are not enough. I pray for your and Katee’s healing and for Kim and Ami to have strength, understanding, wisdom and know there are so many of us who send our love and prayers to them also.
    Your friend in Christ,
    Lynn

    Clock Family,
I just want you to know that since Darrin’s illness I have been aquainted with Trudy, I am the designer at Lowes in Independence that helped them get the cabinets etc …for their new bathroom they remodeled. During this time, I had the honor to sit and listen to her tell me the stories of her family and what event was taking place that ended way before you were ready. God has a plan, we never know day to day what that exactly is, but I am sure that you totally agree God is in control of this life and our destiny. Months past and one day while in the aisles I seen Trudy and her husband. The first question out of my mouth other than how are you doing? It has been so long… was how is your Son, at that time, time had past and the journey for Darrin had ended. But, with a pleasant face and a soft voice she said his battle with cancer had ended, and that the family was doing good. Then the next story from a mother and grandmothers compassionate heart was that of which I learned about Katee, My heart once again sunk, she gave me this website and told me to look at it and read your story, I had misplaced it but tonight found it in the rubble of my bilfold. I want you to know Kim, my heart goes out to you and the girls. I pray that God mends your hearts and heals the wounds that are left with such a shocking story of your life. You have been in my prayers many many days and now over the course of years. I want you to know that even though I have never met your family directly, Trudy has been a wonderful inspiration to me as a customer and a lady of strength. I value her sincereity and the pleasure of being the ear on the other end during our remodel experience that brought forth a great customer/designer relationship, she may not see me that often, nor does her husband, but ironically today I seen him in the store and his smile and first words were “How have you been” I find the spirit of such people that you have for inlaws to be very touching and very heart felt. You have been blessed with a many of good things from Darrin, your daughters, and his family are a treasure to hold dear… You are a blessed woman. May God keep you and the girls in his tender loving care and bless your future in the years to come.
    Sincerely,
    Spring (Vikki) Allen
